Update on SSA/DHS No-Match Rule

DHS and SSA update their plans concerning the No-Match letters

SSA and DHS have both made announcements concerning their plans regarding the No-Match rule that was released in September.  A federal judge agreed that there were too many concerns in the plan for it to go forward. So for now the new rules will be put on hold and employers will not be required to follow the DHS rules.

Homeland Security says it's going back to the drawing board to try to create an enforcement plan that will satisfy the federal judge. It hopes to issue a new rule by late March of 2008.

Social Security also made an announcement regarding the No-Match letters in mid-November.  SSA announced they would not be mailing out any no-match letters for 2006 due to the lawsuit and timing issues in the release.
